Pepe went to tell us that the excursion today was no longer cancelled and we had to go. Nobody was happy about that news...
Madison and I went to a restaurant called El Burrito Habanero. I would describe it as Mexican-Cuban food. I really enjoyed my chicken quesadilla, my melon juice and the limes on the table, and the whole thing only cost me 65 pesos MN (< $3 USD).
Pepe, Madison and I took a maquina to Old Havana and we went to the Museum but it was closed, yet again. Maybe it's under repair now or something. We walked Calle Obispo and stopped in some bookstores and at the book market at Plaza de Armas. I just bought a book of poetry by Garcilaso de la Vega. I'd been thinking that it was by the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega (there are two famous writers named that), but it was the other one and it only cost me 1.2CUC. Plus Pepe convinced me to buy it anyways by reading us a famous poem from the book.
We turned up Calle Mercaderes, my favorite street in Old Havana, and visited Casa de Abanico and the perfume store Habana 1791 again. I bought fans for my sisters and perfume for my mom, so I'm almost done buying souvenirs for people.
We continued on to Plaza Vieja, where there's a brewery that Pepe wanted to go to. I was a little surprised that I actually liked the beer there--I tried both the dark and the light. We laughed a lot and had some serious discussions about a wide variety of topics, from Cuba to school to feminism.
Then we left and when I returned to my house and I was a little late (about 10 minutes) for dinner, and Lute was annoyed at me. She's been not very happy with me since the other morning when I didn't drink all of my cafe con leche and the night I came home at 1am. So tonight I ate all of my food (pizza and macaroni), unlike usual--the heat just takes all of my appetite away--so now I have a stomachache. She told me and Rachel about her son in the US and his complicated divorce and cried a little. I didn't know what to do so I just shoveled in all my food and was thankful that Rachel was there. I want to be okay with Lute again but I'm not sure how. I guess there's a few more days.
Now I've got to sleep.
