Just the other day a friend of mine came up to me. "You travel a lot, right?" she asked. I laughed, and said that I do. She was looking to put together a gift for her boyfriend--they're planning to go to Scotland and she wanted to get him some sort of travel kit as a gift. She said all the Pinterest lists just showed how to pack your hygiene and cosmetic products, so I gave her some suggestions, and I thought I would share them here! Here are ten travel accessories that I actually use.
A quick list of seven things to keep in mind while planning your trip to the 'Isle of Enchantment'!
In honor of Women's History Month this year, I decided to compile a list of inspiring quotes from female explorers and adventurers from history. I've finally finished and the month of March is almost over. It took a lot longer than I thought--I'd planned on doing 10 or 12 quotes but then I kept finding more fascinating women, and I finally had to stop at 30. I really enjoyed collecting these quotes--I even looked through collections of letters of some of the ones from the 1800s--and reading about the lives of these adventurous women. I hope you enjoy the quotes and reading about them as well!
1. Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart (1897-1937) was an American aviation pioneer famous for being the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She broke many other aviation records as well and received the US Distinguished Flying Cross. She also wrote best-selling books about her adventures and even worked at Purdue University to counsel women on careers during her lifetime.
It was a long time ago now that I traveled to Mesa, Arizona with my sister and my dad to visit our grandparents, but I still remember it as a great trip in which we did a lot of fun stuff and got to really explore the area! Below are seven ideas for fun things you can do on your trip to Mesa!
I visited Paris knowing that it wouldn't be quite like it's portrayed in the movies. I had friends who'd told me that the city was dirty and unfriendly, and I expected that, being one of the most-visited cities in the world, it would suffer from many of the issues that hordes of tourists bring. However, I perhaps had an even worse time in Paris than most, and we were extremely happy to leave it. Below are a few examples of the things I really hated about Paris.
College is an interesting stage of life--you have much more time than money, and more freedom to make your own choices than ever before. With that freedom, many students want to travel. After all, college is when you start to find out who you are as an Adult Person and discover what you really want to do in life. Travel can help!
However, with having more free time and less money than you likely will in the future, being able to travel in college can be tricky. I'm finishing up my fourth year, and I'd say I've done more than my fair share of traveling during my time in school. Some may say I was just lucky, but I like to believe that I've just been aware of my travel opportunities, and taken all of them that I could. Here are seven ways you can do the same, and afford to travel while attending college!
I love to read books while traveling, as there's plenty of downtime on flights, trains or car rides to spend catching up on your reading. On every trip I take, I try to bring along at least one book that was written in or takes place in my destination. This isn't a new idea by any means (plenty of people do this), but I started this habit after I read Farenheit 451 while in summer camp as a kid, because it felt really discordant to me and lead to some weird memory associations between camp and that book.
